Science Creates crowned sector supporter for South West
Science Creates takes home the 'Supporting the Sector' award at the 2025 Tech South West Awards.
As 2025 — the 10-year anniversary of Science Creates — draws to a close, it feels particularly apt to be recognised with the Supporting the Sector Award at the Tech South West 2025 Awards this November.
The award recognises driving long-term, meaningful impact across the region's innovation landscape. In our case, this includes supporting over 150 Deep Tech startups who have collectively raised over £350 million and created more than 370 jobs — all within a purpose-built ecosystem that has evolved beyond just labs and workspaces.
Supporting early-stage innovation at key stages
Our ecosystem now brings together infrastructure, investment, expertise and STEM education under one roof, targeting key aspects of a startup's journey as well as empowering scientists and entrepreneurs across generations. This includes:
- Specialised incubators, designed by our in-house architects and operated by our established scientific team. Now at 45,000 sq ft of lab, office and event space across two locations in Bristol, we’re set to expand to 75,000 sq ft in 2026 with our third site, OMX.
- Our UK-wide VC arm, SCVC, led by exited technical founders. With over £53m of capital raised across two funds and 17 portfolio companies, the team applies its own ‘technology-product fit’ model, which specifically caters to early-stage Deep Tech startups on technical and commercial de-risking.
- A wider community network and training programmes, featuring 16 strategic partners providing their professional services to our ecosystem, and three Engineering Biology accelerator programmes that have so far supported 65 entrepreneurs.
- Our independent STEM education charity, Science Creates Outreach, which has delivered more than 150 workshops to over 4,000 young people across the South West in its mission to diversify and empower the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs.

Pre-lets are now open for OMX, our new 30,000 sq ft incubator opening in early 2026 — with 30 high-spec labs designed to flexibly accommodate the diverse growing needs of Deep Tech teams working in advanced technologies, from quantum to biotech.
